Full Disclosure: I work for Schneider Electric, but have zero affiliation with the team that developed this product. Now let's get to it.Appearance: it's a great balance between the ultra high tech look of say a Nest and you standard square 'dumb' thermostat.Install: I have a heat pump so the 'C' wire mentioned in the install was not an issue for me. 15 mins and it was connected. Sadly it was a warm fall day and by default it was set to 70 degrees outta the box. Not a big deal, except it had 125 updates to complete before I could change the settings, and the heat came on for about 20 mins.Setup: The screen prompts were slick and it was pretty intuitive to get it up and running. Just know that the app is useless for this (more on that in a sec).Look and Feel: The 'glow' of the led backlight is nice and gives you a quick visual of what it's doing. It also makes a great nightlight as it wakes from sleep mode when is senses you are near it (mine is outside my bedroom in our hallway).Operation: I'm a week in at this point and have noticed that it does a really good job of maintaining temps in my house without cycling the air too often. The App: Other than changing the temp, the app has a LOT to be desired.Switching from Auto to Heat or Cool is way too deep in the app and not intuitive to find.Settings for a schedule (home, away, night) are for the time only. It does give you the chance to create near limitless schedules which is nice since my family schedule is different nearly every day of the week. The only thing missing is the temp setting. You can't set the temps in the schedule screen. That's buried in a different menu for some reason. Not sure what the 'Reports' screen is for.Read more ›

Just installed Wiser Air upstairs on the kids floor (we have 2 HVAC systems). Really nice box (looks like Apple made it) !), back plate was OK to install (doesn't have bubble, but not a big deal), Set up on the thermostat was pretty good, the really BIG touchscreen is super useful for the set up, including typing the password. Needed to re-search for my WiFi, but now has been 2 weeks and pretty awesome. With spring weather swings, we've been heating & cooling, and the kids really like the LED halo that is orange (heating) and blue (cooling). Alert: that LED is STRONG - really serves as a night-light (Great for our kids, they love it, but beware if you install that IN a bedroom). My app is on an iPhone 5s. It's beautiful, it gives me some good / clear weather info, interface is clean & simple to use. Kudos for the background visuals that are based on location (I guess they uses the zipcode) and weather.28 September 2015 update-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On May 21 I reviewed my first Wiser Air. Now ordered & installed a second Wiser Air downstairs (white also). I needed to use the 'wire extender' because I don't have a 'C'wire in the wall. Frankly didn't want to go into the furnace control panel alone, so I called the helpdesk. Talked to Rose who walked me thru & stayed on the line till done. Removed the 5 wires of the panel, wired them to the 'wire extender' (EQUIP side) and re-wired it to the thermostat wire (THERM side). Probably 15 mn to do that. Then installed the thermostat on the wall, Had to patch up plaster but another 20 mn. So all in all 45 mn end to end. OK.pros- really good box etc.Read more ›

I love this thermostat. Easy to install, great user interface and saves energy. Perfect for controlling the temperature from my mobile phone. Best feature is the Cool Blast. One click and I get a blast of cold air for 15 minutes without changing the settings. Very Cool. Much better than the Nest it replaces. Midwest weather (OHIO) is a bear, always changing - I need this functionality to keep things under my control.

My wife and I love this thermostat! It's a great alternative to nest and has advanced features like integrated weather, demand response, and a beautiful app. We especially like the "cool blast" feature which is nice when you come home from a work out and you just want some cold air without changing the temp setpoint indefinitely. Oh, and the glowing backlit halo is pretty cool too 🙂 It turns blue when cooling, red when heating, and green when you're saving energy!

In the interest of full disclosure, I work on the team that develops and maintains the Wiser Air cloud platform. That being said, I have purchased a number of these units from Amazon for family members and friends. This review is intended to provide a complete picture of my experience as a user, rather than as cloud developer.Wiser Air installation was straightforward. My original dumb thermostat was a stock Honeywell heat pump controller. Wiring up the new thermostat went quickly and easily since I already had five wires (including a common wire) run from the unit to the thermostat mount. Initial system boot time was acceptable, though there is still a bit of an issue with the display staying blank for an uncomfortably long time during the startup process. The thermostat started up normally. Once the thermostat finished its startup process, configuration took literally less than a minute. I selected my equipment type (heat pump), time zone, and configured my network connection. Another critical point to note here is that the Wiser Air thermostat only supports secure network connections. Some routers still ship with WEP encryption enabled. This is not secure, and is not supported. You do need to have at least basic knowledge of how your network is set up, and you do need to know the wireless key (password) for the network.Once the Wiser Air is connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi, it automatically updates itself to the most recent firmware version. The upgrade process can take up to 20 minutes, depending upon the number of updates available since the unit was produced. There is one important note I will make a this point. The HVAC system will not operate during the upgrade process, so plan accordingly.Read more ›
